Former Kenyan President, Mwai Kibali has passed on at age 90

Mwai Kibali, the former president of Kenya whose distinguished political career was tarnished when he won a second presidential seat that was followed by deadly post- election violence has passed on at age 90.

Mwai’s death was announced on Friday by the current president, Uhuru Kenyatta who said his passing away was a sad day for the country and his predecessor as a great Kenyan and a statesman.

His cause death hasn’t been yet announced, but Mwai was in and out of hospitals in recent years.

He served as Kenya’s President from 2002 to 2013 and Vice President from 1978 to 1988.
