The man behind Senegal success in AFCON 2021

Senegal coach Aliou cissé took Senegal on an incredible journey to AFCON glory.

Cissé played for Senegal for six years , captaining the side during the 2002 world cup, where they reached quarter finals.

Cissé then reached the 2002 AFCON final missing a penalty in a shootout defeat Vs Cameroon.

In 2015, Cissé was appointed Senegal coach and guided the team to the 2018 world cup. Departing in the group stage, they became the first team to be eliminated from the competition because of the fair play the breaker rule.

One year later, cissé team returned to the AFCON, where Senegal were beaten by Algeria.

In years leading up to the latest AFCON, the coach faced criticism , but his players never gave up on him.

I believe ( Aliou cissé) deserves everything because he is the most criticized coach I have ever seen in my life , but he never gives up..

In 2022, cissé long road to victory was complete as he led Senegal to Thier first international trophy after beating Egypt on penalties

Aliou cissé:
I dedicate the victory to the Senegalese people for years , we have been chasing the cup. Today we will be able to put a star on our Jersey.
